Both promotion chasers Longford Town and Cobh Ramblers will have to settle for a point a piece at the City Calling Stadium.
It was a great early start for Neale Finn's side, Chris Mulhall slotting the ball past Paul Hunt after being played in by Michael McDonnell after five minutes. Longford controlled for much of the half but couldn't penetrate through the away side's defense, until late on.
Captain Dean Zambra went on a pulsating run from the half way line, played a lovely one two with Daniel Meenan to his left and drilled home in amongst some sloppy defending from Cobh. Longford controlled the start of the second half as well but failed to conjure up anything worthwhile.
They started to get shaky when Cobh pulled a goal back. Darren Murphy's driven corner from the left was met by substitute Andrew Wall's head and he directed the ball into the roof of the net. With less than ten minutes left of normal time, Cian Leonard equalised for the away side.
Michael McDonnell dwelled on the ball for to long inside his own half and was pick pocketed easily. Neale Finn will be disappointed that his side lost a two goal lead considering they were the better team from much of the game. Stephen Henderson will feel they got away with a point here, Much more work needs to be done on the training ground if either side has realistic promotion aspirations.
