There was no real threat to the home side's goal throughout the game and the cruised through the 90 minutes. It was an own goal that started the rout, a cross from the left wing was placed perfectly under the crossbar and the ball was turned in by Baba Issaka.
Sam Verdon had a chance in the 37th minute to double the lead but he miss hit his shot at Michael Fogarty. Aodh Dervin did increase their lead in the 40th minute, he ran through the middle of Athlone's defense and they split open for him to go one on one with Fogarty and he slotted home with ease.
The second half was a near carbon copy of the first. Jamie Hollywood made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute after McGalde's cut back on the left wing.
They nearly made it 4-0 around the hour mark but for a clearance off the line.
