Longford Town FC had an emphatic victory over Galway United tonight at the City Calling Stadium.

Goals from Dean Byrne x two, Sean Boyd and Joe Manley sealed all three points for Longford in a dominant second half performance.

Galway had their chances in the first half through Vinny Faherty and Conor Layng but never truly looked to break the deadlock apart from one effort that saw Layng force a save from Steacy.

Longford had chances of their own through Sean Boyd but didn't trouble Horgan too much after that.

The second half was a completely different story as Neale Fenn's side put four past the Tribesmen.

A goal from Dean Byrne started the route for the Red and Black with new loan-signing Sean Boyd getting his first goal for the club only three minutes later after an assist from sub Aaron Dobbs.

Dean Byrne got his second on 84 minutes with Dobbs the assister again, this time he ran from midfield before laying it off to Byrne who easily slotted it by the outrushing Horgan.

Joe Manley popped up in injury time with a header to put the final nail in the coffin as Longford cruised to a 4-0 victory and three vital points.
