Second half goals from Brandon Miele and substitute Michael O’Connor wrapped up a comfortable three points for Shamrock Rovers in a tense Dublin derby at the Tallaght Stadium.

The heavy underfoot conditions didn’t make flowing football easy but the large attendance saw some good fare, particularly after half-time.

Miele fired home with his left foot from a Simon Madden cross. That was after A 58 minutes.

A quarter of an hour later, Michael O’Connor slid in to score off the underside of the crossbar after good work down the Rovers left.

Bohemians can point to an Ian Morris header that cannoned back into play off the left hand upright.

A penalty by George Poynton was Bohs only score on the night. Devine was controversially penalised in injury time.

A largely forgettable first half saw two good chances for Rovers. Trevor Clarke shot wide on each occasion.
