Tolka Park played host to a cagey scoreless meeting between Shelbourne and Longford Town in the SSE Airtricity League First Division on Friday evening.
Shelbourne found themselves down to nine men for the majority of the second half, following James O’Brien and Daniel O’Leary seeing red either side of the break. Longford would dominate possession but Shels, despite their numerical disadvantage, somehow held things together at the back and for the most part limited their visitors to shots from outside the box. Derek Prendergast and Dean Delany were heroic with some on-the-line stops while Dean Zambra was guilty of missing a couple of good chances for Longford and Dylan McGlade will be disappointed not to have tested the Shels No.1 with more of his efforts.
Both sides started the night just one point apart in the First Division table and Longford will be disappointed not to have made their advantage count for more.
