Cabinteely walked away from Tolka Park on Friday evening with all three points in the bag after coming from behind to record a 3-2 victory over Shelbourne.
The home side took an early lead after a corner whipped into the box found Luke Byrne at the back post. His header was saved by the feet of goalkeeper Stephen McGuinness, but the rebound fell to Oscar Brennan who smashed his effort into the roof of the net.
Shelbourne ran Cabinteely ragged during the first 30 minutes through their movement and quick, one-touch passing, and it looked like it could be a long night for the South Dublin club.
However, Shels failed to capitalise on their dominance and the visitors equalised just before the break from the penalty spot after Luke Byrne was adjudged to have fouled Rob Manley, and Conor Keeley slotted past Dean Delany from the spot.
Shelbourne enjoyed a good start to the second half and it looked like just a matter of time before they would re-take the lead. However, football is anything but predictable and quickfire goals from Manley and Kieran 'Marty' Waters left the home fans stunned.
Ciaran Kilduff steered Conan Byrne's cross into the bottom corner in the 76th minute to give Shels hopes but it proved too little too late
