Sligo Rovers and Derry City drew 1-1 in an entertaining game on a clear Saturday at The Showgrounds.

Sligo were under the command of caretaker manager Declan McIntyre, with new manager Gerard Lyttle watching on from the stands.

For the majority of the first half, it was Derry who were creating more chances. However, it was Sligo who took the lead on the half hour mark, after Sadlier fired the ball into the net with a well-hit volley, after the Derry defence failed to clear a Craig Roddan cross.

Sligo took the lead very much against the run of play, but their lead was relatively short-lived. Conor McDermott's shot from the right side was diverted into the goal by Sligo defender Kyle Callan-McFadden, in what went down as an unfortunate own goal to level the score before half time.

Sligo improved after half time, very much looking to impress their incoming manager, and created several chances. Sadlier was a constant threat throughout and he delivered a delicate cross that was nodded just wide by Ayunga just before the hour mark.

Sligo continued to press, and won several corners, without managing to trouble Derry goalkeeper Gerard Doherty. The game finished 1-1, in a game that had some brief flashes of quality, and full commitment and effort from both teams. Admittedly, a draw was probably a fair result for both sides.
