Sligo Rovers and St. Patrick's Athletic had to settle for a point apiece on Friday evening at The Showgrounds.

The first half started brightly for Sligo, who put St. Pat's under pressure in the opening stages, winning numerous corners and keeping the majority of possession.

The home side failed to create any clear cut chances. They were rewarded for their efforts after 35 mins as Kieran Sadlier gave the home side the lead with a sublime free kick that was driven hard and low into the bottom left corner of the net.

There was little else to report in the first half and the home side were in front at half time.

St. Pat's started the second half well, pressuring the home team much in the same way as Sligo had done in the first half, winning numerous corners but not creating any great chances. St. Pat's got the equaliser on 75 mins, as a lofted free kick from deep fell to Michael Barker who rifled his shot into the net from inside the Sligo penalty area. The game drew to a close without any other significant chances, as both sides had to settle for a point.

Both sides have now registered their first league points of the season.
