Sligo Rovers picked up their first win of the season after a 3-2 victory against Bray Wanderers in what was a highly entertaining game at The Showgrounds on Saturday evening.

The home side got off to a less than ideal start, as Aaron Greene's deflected cross fell to Gary McCabe who put the away side in front with an emphatic finish after just 3 minutes.

Sligo responded well however, with Kieran Sadlier causing the Bray defence numerous problems on the left wing. His crossing was providing a threat to the Bray goal, and after 25 minutes, a cross from Sadlier was deflected into the goal by Bray defender Derek Foran to level the score.

The home side then immediately took the lead, after another excellent cross from Sadlier was met by Ayunga, whose shot was blocked, and Chris Kenny fired home the rebound to score his first goal for the Bit O'Red, and giving the home side the lead.

Just before half time, Bray equalised. The away side won a free kick on the edge of the box. Gary McCabe stepped up and dispatched his effort into the top right corner of the goal to make it 2-2 at half time.

Sligo came out with a purpose in the second half, and Kieran Sadlier grabbed a deserved goal. The goal came from a free kick about 30 yards out, and Sadlier fired a fantastic shot into the top left corner of the goal, to the delight of the home support.

Bray pressed for an equaliser, with Aaron Greene cutting inside numerous times from the right wing, having several efforts on goal that either went wide, or were blocked by a resolute and determined Sligo defence.

The game finished 3-2 to Sligo, who will be delighted with picking up their first victory of the season ahead of the North-West Derby next Saturday against Finn Harps
