St' Patrick's Athletic and Bohemians played out an entertaining 1-1 in the Dublin Derby at Richmond Park on Friday night.
Bohs started the brighter and saw early chances for Dinny Corcoran and Conor Levingston saved by Brendan Clarke. Clarke did well to deny Darragh Leahy on 18 minutes and pulled off a wonderful save at full stretch to keep James Finnerty's header out two minutes later.
Despite the Gypsies dominance, it was Pat's who found the breakthrough on 40 minutes. Gary Shaw found himself on the right wing and did superbly well to hold the ball up before firing a wonderful cross into the box.
It was met by Darragh Markey who looped a header over the top of James Talbot to claim his first goal of the season. Tensions flared before half-time as a mass scuffle led to bookings for Saints' Rhys McCabe and Bohs' Derek Pender.
The second half began at a frantic pace without any major chances. That was until the 69th minute when Bohs won a penalty. Corcoran stepped up but Clarke dived to his left to keep the score at 1-0 to Pat's.
David Webster had a shot saved for Pat's before Bohs finally found the goal they were looking for. They were awarded a free kick just outside the box and Mandroiu duly stepped up to magnificently curl it home.
Both sides played out the closing stages in desperate search of a winner and Mikey Drennan found the net for Saints in the 90th minute only for the referee to rule it out for a foul. Next up for Pat's a home game against Derry City on Tuesday. Bohs travel to league leaders Dundalk on Monday night.
