Brendan Clarke was the Limerick hero against his former club as the managerless Shannonsiders took all three points from Richmond Park. Limerick dominated the first half with St Pat’s keeper Conor O’Malley having to make several saves before Tony Whitehead got the final touch to skipper Shane Duggan’s low free kick to give them a 26th minute lead. St Pat’s were better in the second half as their former keeper Clarke made a terrific save to deny Kurtis Byrne an equaliser on 51 minutes. Clarke was then there again with a penalty save from Conan Byrne on 64 minutes before Ian Bermingham shot the rebound off a post. Substitute John O’Flynn then added Limerick’s second goal on the counterattack on 83 minutes. Clarke’s clearance found Chiedozie Ogbene who put O’Flynn through to slide past O’Malley.
