UCD welcomed Longford Town to Dublin on Friday evening and were probably happy to see them leave with just a point.

The visitors were the better side for large chunks of the game and, on another day, could have had the three points wrapped up at half-time. They went after the game straight from the first whistle and carved out a number of early chances.

UCD were struggling to get a foothold on the game but they were repeatedly let off by a wasteful Longford. Half-time came about and the game was still somehow scoreless. Collie O'Neill would have to do some serious work during the break if his team were going to get anything from the game.

As it was, Longford again started the brighter and they were the ones who had a great chance a minute after the restart. UCD were much more effective in the second half, however, and after again absorbing heavy pressure from Longford, they started to create chances of their own.

It was an entertaining affair but despite the numerous chances that were created, neither side could find the back of the net and both had to make do with a point that does little for their either's promotion hopes.
