UCD slumped to the foot of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division after a 1-0 defeat to Dublin rivals St Patrick's Athletic. A first half Kevin Toner header was enough to inflict more misery on the Students who this week lost the services of talented duo Neil Farrugia and Gary O'Neill to Shamrock Rovers. For St Pat's the result means they are four games unbeaten and they'll wonder how they left the UCD Bowl with just the solitary goal. Ian Bermingham, Jake Walker and Simon Madden were all guilty of missing chances before the men from Inchicore found the break-through on the half-hour mark. A Mike Drennan delivery to the back post was met with a powerful header from Toner who has now scored three times this season for Harry Kenny’s side. St Pat’s had more chances to extend their lead but had to settle with the one goal before the break. The second half painted a similar picture as the first and but for the defensive display of UCD, St Pat’s could have been looking at a handsome lead. Instead they wasn’t to breach the homeside’s rear-guard further and head into Monday’s game against Shamrock Rovers in solid form. For UCD that’s a 10th straight league defeat.
