Cabinteely finally recorded a league win over UCD for the first time since they entered the league in 2015.

In two previous games this season, Cabo had a two goal advantage, before being pegged back for a share of the spoils. They weren't to be denied on Friday however, as they won 3-2 at Belfield.

The visitors eked out the first chance of the game in the eighteenth minute. It was a breakaway move, as Waters and Ryan Swan combined down right, before the latter pulled the trigger from just inside the box. Corbet was equal to it. Georgie Kelly should have had UCD ahead sixty seconds later.

Cian Kavanagh put him in, and he had acres of space, but his effort was straight at Mick Kelly. Waters did give Cabo the lead in the thirty-fourth minute. He turned home Karl Byrne's low cross from the right to score his tenth league goal of the season.

The goal gave Pat Devlin's side great confidence, and Jack Watson had an effort cleared off the line just before the break. The opening ten minutes of the second-half were quiet, before College equalised. Kelly controlled a long ball, before finishing smartly before passed his namesake.

Cabinteely were ahead again sixty seconds later. Ryan Swan went down in the box, and Waters scored the penalty low into the right corner. And they doubled their advantage eleven minutes later, as Anto Dolan finished an Aaron Robinson cross from eight yards. UCD weren't done, and Maxi Kouogun's header from a corner left a goal between the sides with over ten minutes left on the clock.

But try as they might, Collie O'Neill's side couldn't pull it out of the fire. There are now only five points between the sides.
