Bohemians sailed to a comfortable 4-1 victory over Drogheda United in a bad tempered clash at United Park. Keith Ward was the star man for the Gypsies as he netted a hat-trick while Dinny Corcoran added a fourth before substitute Sean Brennan scored a consolation goal for the hosts with both sides ending the game with ten men. Bohs took the lead after 11' minutes as Keith Ward was given too much time and space by the Drogheda defence as he curled home a fine effort before doubling his tally just before the break. Oscar Brennan was shown a second yellow card early in the second-half but the sides were evened up a couple of minutes later as Chris Mulhall was sent off for an off the ball incident with Rob Cornwall. Bohs ended the game as a contest as they scored two sublime individual goals in quick succession. Firstly, Ward completed his hat-trick as his long-distance strike was too powerful for McGuinness before Corcoran stunned those in attendance by finding the top corner from all of 40-yards. Drogheda managed to pull a goal back through Sean Brennan but it mattered little as their return to the First Division is all but confirmed.
