Waterford FC remain top of the Premier Division table after a 1-0 win at home to Bohemians at the RSC.

Sander Puri struck six minutes into the second half to hand Alan Reynolds their fourth win of the season. Both sides had half chances in the opening ten minutes.

Bohs midfielder Keith Ward fired straight at Waterford keeper Lawrence Vigouroux from a 25-yard free kick, while at the other end Waterford striker Courtney Duffus fired over after a decent Waterford move down the right.

Bohs had a brilliant chance midway through the first half from Rob Manley Good work from Darragh Leahy and Karl Moore down the left created the chance but Manley couldn’t get a proper connection.

The home side had a chance of their own just minutes later. Stanley Aborah produced a great cross from the right for Gavan Holohan but he could only fire straight at Bohs keeper Shane Supple.

But the winning did arrive six minutes into the second half and it went to the home side. Courtney Duffus turned his marker on the far side and he crossed to the back post for Sander Puri to fire home past Supple. Bohemians had two excellent chances to level in the final quarter.

First Eoghan Stokes headed straight at Vigouroux, before Dylan Watts volleyed narrowly wide from a corner from Keith Ward. But they couldn’t force an equaliser as Waterford held on for another three points.
