Simon Madden and Jake Walker linked up to find Conor Clifford for the next opportunity but the shot was straight at Matthew Connor.
Cory Galvin’s spectacular strike gave Waterford the lead. Shane Duggan found Dean Walsh who in turn found Galvin and he fired a super strike to beat Brendan Clarke from outside the penalty are.
But St Pats' equalised two minutes later when Jamie Lennon played the quick free kick to Conor Clifford and he smashed an unstoppable strike past Connor. Dean Clarke saw his cracking strike come crashing back off the crossbar as the sides were level at the break.
St. Pats started the second half strongest and took the lead after 62 minutes. Ian Bermingham found Kevin Toner to send in the deep cross to Clarke.
The striker saw his header at goal blocked by Georgie Poynton but he fired home the rebound to grab the lead Waterford chased the game and Bastien Hery header saw Clarke save, before Shane Duggan fired over the crossbar minutes later.
And in the final minutes, St Pat’s keeper Brendan Clarke earned the points for the visitors when his brilliant save from Dean O’Halloran’s header to secure a 2-1 win.
