Wexford and Cobh Ramblers came away with a point apiece after a 1-1 draw in Ferrycarrig Park.

Both goals came inside the opening ten minutes, with Anthony McAlvey firing the visitors in front and Aaron Dobbs plundering the equaliser moments later.

Ramblers got off to a dream start, scoring with their first meaningful attack in the fifth minute. Jaze Kabia tried to wriggle his way through the Wexford defence and when the ball fell to Anthony McAlvey he rifled a shot to the corner of the net.

The hosts responded in positive fashion though, and they were back on level terms within five minutes when Dobbs applied a clinical finish after being found by Dean Kelly.

Chances were few and far between in the early stages of the second-half, although McAlvey and David Hurley had speculative efforts for the visitors.

In the 68th minute, Mark Slater did well to tigerishly win back possession on the right wing, before whipping in a cross to the inrushing Dobbs. The striker steered a decent shot on target, but goalkeeper Paul Hunt did well to claw his effort around the post.

Cobh created a few chances before the end, with McAlvey fizzing a shot from the edge of the area narrowly over the top in the 78th minute and moments later a curling shot from Hurley was deflected out for a corner.

Substitute Dean George had a sight of goal seconds after entering the fray in the 85th when he ran on to a Mark Slater cross but he fired a difficult chance straight at Hunt. In the end Wexford got their first home point on the board, while Cobh ended their losing run.
