Bray Wanderers moved up to third in the SSE Airtricity League First Division thanks to a narrow victory over Shamrock Rovers II at the Carlisle Grounds.

Elsewhere, Cobh Ramblers closed the gap to the top five with an emphatic victory over Wexford at St. Colman's Park.

Bray Wanderers 1-0 Shamrock Rovers II

Bray Wanderers moved ahead of Longford Town and UCD AFC thanks to a narrow victory over Shamrock Rovers II.

The only goal of the game came 20 minutes into the contest as Ryan Graydon's strike found the net and bagged an important three points.

Bray Wanderers travel to manager-less Galway United on Friday whilst Shamrock Rovers II head to Athlone Town.

Cobh Ramblers 4-0 Wexford FC

Cobh Ramblers produced a devastating performance to kick-start their season and to keep in touch of the play-off positions.

After an even opening, Ramblers went ahead in the 26th minute thanks to David Hurley's effort. Six minutes later, it was 2-0 as Darragh Crowley, on loan from Cork City, added to the scoreline.

Incredibly, six minutes after that goal, Cobh sealed the victory before the break through Lee Molloy. Molloy got his second of the game four minutes from time as Ramblers welcome Longford Town to St. Colman's Park on Saturday.
