Seven-goal thriller in Tallaght between Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne, Galway United comfortable in 3-0 win against Cork City and maintain 100% record

Shamrock Rovers 5-2 Shelbourne

Shamrock Rovers produced a stunning second-half comeback to dismantle Shelbourne 5-2 at Tallaght Stadium. Aoibheann Clancy opened the scoring inside ten minutes with a low-driven strike into the bottom left corner to fire the visitors in front.

Six minutes into the second half, Maeve Wollmer, who only last week scored a last-minute winner against Bohemians, made it 2-0 to the visitors with a stunning strike from outside the box that flew into the top right corner. Kelly again provided the assist.

Roisin McGovern got Shamrock Rovers back into the contest on 66 minutes, rising to head home Ellen Molloy's corner to halve the deficit. Two minutes later, the game turned on its head as Leah Doyle was shown a straight red card for a foul that handed the home side a penalty, and Molloy converted from the spot to level the contest at 2-2.

The Hoops got their third through Sadhbh Doyle on 82 minutes, who latched onto a ball over the top and went around the goalkeeper to make it 3-2. Therese Kinnevey added a fourth three minutes later, and Della Cowper-Grey put the gloss on a remarkable turnaround with the Hoops’ fifth to round off the 5-2 scoreline.

Cork City 0-3 Galway United

Emma Doherty produced one of the standout individual displays of the season so far as she fired Galway United to a comfortable away win at Turner's Cross, completing a 20-minute hat-trick to leave Cork City still searching for their first points of the campaign.

Fresh from her Player of the Match performance against Treaty United last week, Doherty opened the scoring on 35 minutes, heading home from a Galway free kick to settle the Tribeswomen at the break.

Cork's resistance lasted just four minutes after the restart, where Doherty doubled her tally, meeting a corner with another header to make it 2-0.

Her hat-trick was completed in the 55th minute, this time showing the composure to lift the ball over the onrushing Cork goalkeeper and put the result beyond doubt.

Galway had the chance to make it four with five minutes to play, only for Ceola Bergin to be denied from the spot.

Peamount United 1-1 Sligo Rovers

Sligo Rovers picked up a point at Greenogue Park, holding title-chasing Peamount United to a draw.

The Bit O' Red took the lead on 18 minutes when Sydney Stephens turned smartly near the edge of the box and fired past the Peamount goalkeeper to put Sligo Rovers in the lead.

Peamount drew level just before the interval, with Eleanor Ryan-Doyle producing the moment of quality the hosts had been searching for, lifting the ball over the onrushing Sligo Rovers goalkeeper to make it 1-1.

Neither side could find a winner after the break, with the result a huge point for Sligo Rovers as they look to climb away from the lower reaches of the table.

Bohemians 0-1 Treaty United

Madison McGuane's second-half strike was enough to earn Treaty United a huge 1-0 away win at Dalymount Park, with the visitors snatching all three points off Bohemians.

The match was settled six minutes after the restart, with McGuane finding the breakthrough in the 51st minute, driving a powerful effort across goal and beyond the Bohemians goalkeeper after being teed up by Katie Lawlee.

Athlone Town 2-0 Wexford

Defending champions Athlone Town saw off Wexford in the Midlands with goals at either end, as Maddie Gibson and league top scorer Dana Scheriff secured a comfortable home win.

Gibson set the hosts on their way as early as the 11th minute, finishing well after a ball was squared across the box to give Athlone the perfect start.

Wexford couldn't find a way back, and the result was put beyond doubt deep into stoppage time when Scheriff added the gloss her performance deserved, meeting the ball with a sublime volley in added time to bring up another goal for the league's most prolific marksman this season.

Waterford travel to Belfield on Sunday, where they take on DLR Waves, who picked up their first win in style last Sunday, where they will look to build on a breakthrough weekend that saw them pick up their first win of the campaign against Sligo Rovers – thanks to goals from Siun Murdiff and Amber Cosgrove.
