Kenny Shiels was happy his side managed to stop the bad run of defeats with a 1-1 draw against Sligo Rovers on Saturday night.

“The point is good,” Shiels said. “We are trying to make in roads into the league table and try and get up the table.

“So it’s a start and we look to Tuesday night now, we’ve got a quick turn around, and we get back to playing at home on Tuesday night,”

Despite stopping the so-called rot and being happy with the point, Shiels felt his side could’ve been well in front going in at the break.

“I felt we had domination of the ball and I felt we created enough in terms of our patterns of play, which was okay at times, and we were looking more likely than we have been before.

“I just need, we need, the confidence to put away those chances we create.” Shiels explained.

The Candystripes boss was happy with his teams performance after being injured riddled over recent weeks and believes they can take those positives into tomorrow's match against Limerick.

“I can see it building, it was building there, there was good togetherness tonight,” he added.

The Candystripes will welcome Limerick to Maginn Park for the second time this season after a floodlight failure caused the game to be abandoned in March.

Kenny Shiels introduced Barry McNamee back into the fold against Sligo Rovers on Saturday night and his return will be a massive boost for the entire squad going into Tuesday’s crucial game.

Derry City will play three consecutive league games at home in the next 10 days against Limerick, St. Patricks Athletic and finally Bohemians on May 5.
