SSE Airtricity League Premier Division side Sligo Rovers have completed the signing of striker Adam Morgan ahead of the 2018 season.

The 23-year old signs after a spell in the English non-league with the likes of Curzon Ashton, Colwyn Bay and most recently, Halifax Town.

Morgan started his career at Liverpool where he made appearances for the Anfield club on their pre-season tours, in the UEFA Europa League and the League Cup.

The Liverpool-born forward has also had spells with Rotherham United, Accrington Stanley and Yeovil Town and Sligo Rovers boss Gerard Lyttle has praised the quality of his new signing.

Lyttle said: “It’s a massive signing for us. For a player so young he has great experience and at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“He is well-coached and with respect to the players we’ve had, I don’t think Sligo Rovers have had a finisher like him since a Danny North or Mark Quigley. He’s a fox in the box type player and I think it’ll suit what we have here.

“It took a long time to get the deal done with the parties and in the time spent doing so, I feel we’ve had some great good conversations and there is an understanding there with Adam already that we can build on."

Morgan shot back into the public lime-light last season when he scored a hat-trick for Curzon Ashton in the FA Cup in a 4-3 defeat against English League One side AFC Wimbledon. Watch the hat-trick below, including a long-range effort for his first goal, courtesy of FA TV.
