League Champions Athlone Town and Women’s All-Island Cup and Club Orange Women’s FAI Cup winners Shelbourne both have three players in the XI. Galway United have two representatives, while Shamrock Rovers, Sligo Rovers and Treaty United are all recognised too.
Shelbourne goalkeeper Mya Sanchez takes the number one jersey after a season of big moments for the Reds, including key saves in the 1-1 draw with Athlone Town at Tolka Park that kept their European hopes alive going into the final day.
In front of her, Sanchez is joined by Shelbourne captain Pearl Slattery, who led the Reds to cup success on two fronts this season. Athlone Town’s Kayleigh Shine is rewarded for her part in the Champions’ defence, while Shamrock Rovers’ Therese Kinnevey and Galway United vice-captain Aoibheann Costello complete the back line.
In midfield, Athlone Town captain Hannah Waesch is recognised after leading Lily Agg’s side to another League title. Shelbourne’s Alex Kavanagh, Sligo Rovers’ Cara Jordan and Treaty United captain Katie Lawlee complete the midfield.
Up front, Athlone Town’s Dana Scheriff is joined by Galway United’s Emma Doherty. Scheriff scored 17 League goals which claimed the Golden Boot in another prolific campaign for the Champions, while Doherty’s goals were central to Galway United’s push for Europe.
Keep an eye on the League social channels over the coming days as further nominees are revealed ahead of the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Awards on Thursday, November 19.
