Longford Town Goalkeeper Lee Steacy was very disappointed following the final whistle at the City Calling Stadium on Friday night but believes Shelbourne were well worth the 2-0 victory as they had a game plan and stuck to it. “Yeah it's disappointing...I think it's only our second defeat at home this season. They're top of the table, they're going for promotion and put a lot of money behind them...I think overall they probably deserved it. They had a game plan, they stuck to it and I think it made the difference” the former Shels man stated after the game. With the title almost certainly out of Longford's reach now, their attention will turn to pushing for second place in the league and consolidating third ahead of Cabinteely and Bray. With a tough away trip to Ferrycarrig to take on Wexford in two weeks time, Steacy knows that the Town are in for a tough run in but can still achieve their aim of promotion. “Wexford gave us two tough games, down there in the pouring rain, we went 1-0 down and got two late goals and then again at home we left it really late. I know they lost a couple of players recently but we'll be just trying to bounce back and hopefully get a good cup result the week before against Bohs. We've still loads to play for in the cup and for promotion.” Steacy has had a great first season with Longford, only conceding 20 goals so far, the second lowest after Shelbourne. Ahead of next week's Extra.ie FAI Cup clash away to Bohemians, he insisted that his team would learn from the Shels defeat and that Bohs wouldn't be putting 10 past him like they did against UCD on Friday night. “We have nothing to lose going into that Cup game. Obviously Bohs had a good win on Friday but they're won't be anything like that next week. Overall, where we are in the league – a playoff was the main aim and we're still right up there so we'll be positive and hopefully the next few weeks go okay for us.”
