Wexford and DLR Waves shared the spoils at Ferrycarrig Park, while a goalless stalemate was played out between Treaty United and Shamrock Rovers at Markets Field.
Sligo Rovers 5-1 Bohemians
Sligo Rovers forward Sydney Stephens stole the show at the Showgrounds, bagging a hat-trick against the Northsiders as the Bit O’ Red ran out 5-1 winners.
Stephens opened the scoring midway through the first half, with Cara King doubling Sligo’s lead just three minutes later.
Stephens added her second in the 38th minute, heading home from a free kick, before Cara Jordan made it 4-0 with a left-footed curling effort into the top-right corner after the restart.
Alex Devoy pulled a consolation goal back late on, but Sydney Stephens had the final say with a skilful solo run and finish in added time to complete her hat-trick and sealed a statement win for the Bit O’Red.
Waterford 2-4 Athlone Town
Defending champions Athlone Town came from two goals down to claim a 4-2 win at the RSC, with braces from Dana Scheriff and Alexis Strickland turning the game on its head.
Waterford grabbed two goals early doors through Meadhbh Doherty and a brilliant Fiona Bradley strike from outside the box that found the bottom-left corner.
Scheriff pulled one back five minutes after the restart before Alexis Strickland levelled the game in the 63rd minute, getting in front of the Waterford defence to finish from a cross.
League top-scorer Scheriff added her second shortly after, running through on goal and converting nicely after a through-ball.
Strickland completed her brace deep into added time, going around the goalkeeper to seal an impressive comeback from the league champions.
Galway United 2-1 Peamount United
Galway United edged Peamount United 2-1 at Eamonn Deacy Park between two standout sides in the league. Eleanor Ryan-Doyle gave the visitors a perfect start, latching onto a ball over the top and slotting it through goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan’s legs.
Emma Doherty, fresh from her hat-trick at Turner’s Cross last weekend, was back on the scoresheet shortly after, heading home to draw Galway level.
March Player of the Month Aoibheann Costello completed the Galway comeback shortly after the restart, nicking the ball off the Peamount defender in the box and finishing well to secure a 2-1 home win for United and maintain their 100% record going into Round 7.
Cork City 0-3 Shelbourne
Shelbourne responded strongly following last week’s collapse against Shamrock Rovers, picking up a comfortable 3-0 away win against Munster FA Turner’s Cross to leave Cork City still searching for their first points of the campaign.
Maeve Wollmer broke the deadlock four minutes after the restart, heading home from an Aoife Kelly cross. Pearl Slattery doubled the lead with another headed effort from a cross, before Jess Gargan put the result beyond doubt in the 75th minute, her shot taking a deflection off Grace Flanagan on the way past the Cork City goalkeeper.
