Kieran Marty Waters extended his record goal-scoring tally for Cabinteely with a wonder strike against Drogheda United in the drawn first leg of the First Division play-off final on Friday at Stradbrook.

But the striker insists there is much more to come next week from the White and Greens in the second leg at United Park.

The 29-year old arrowed a quite brilliant long range shot to give Cabo an early lead against the Boynesiders.

“It came into my feet. Paul Fox was in front of me. Don’t ask me how I didn’t hit him with the ball. It went straight to where I wanted it to go. Yeah, it was one of my better ones,” beamed Waters.

“It was a great goal. Unfortunately, you get nothing for it. It comes down to the second game now.”

Jake Hyland’s equaliser saw the visitors get the better of the second half against their Dublin opponents.

“It was a frustrating evening for us. We have so much more to give. We’ll take it into the second leg, hopefully will be a whole lot better.”

The forward went on to stress, “They're a great side. They knock the ball around well. But we let them. They didn’t beat us; we didn’t beat them. It will go down to the next game. Hopefully, we can turn them over on their own patch.

He continued: “We’re looking forward to it. We’re looking forward to training this week. And seeing if we can get it right. And hopefully play a lot better next week.”
