Finn Harps remain rooted to the bottom of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division table after a first half goal courtesy of Daniel Grant earned Bohemians a first win at Finn Park since 2008. It was another narrow home defeat for the Ballybofey side as their search for a first league win goes on. Manager Ollie Horgan said his side huffed and puffed but the first half lost them the game. “To be fair, I thought the lads in the second half were very good, and pushed Bohs back, albeit Bohs had two great chances on the counter but the first half is where we lost the game,” he said. “We didn’t play, we didn’t show up, we had no energy and no drive, that’s what we thrive on and if we don’t have that, we have nothing, it’s very disappointing and I just can’t put my finger on what went wrong.” Shortly after Daniel Grant’s opener, his teammate Dinny Corcoran struck the post and while Horgan admits the better side won, he feels that Keith Long’s side had a better performance against Sligo Rovers on April 6. “Ciaran Gallagher made a great save in goals to keep the score down but I don’t think Bohs were brilliant,” he said. “We watched them last week in Sligo and they were better then than they were tonight but they still grinded it out, be it narrowly or more, it’s credit to them, we did ask some questions near the end and they defended very well,” he added. “Their back four, Keith Buckley in front of them and Talbot in goals, there was some half chances but they dealt with them. “Credit to them, I mean Keith Ward is a touch of class on the pitch, from our point of view, he came off to late.” All of Harps home defeats this season have been by a one goal margin and while Horgan agreed that some sides have struggled, he noted that the end result is the same. “They still won, I don’t think Keith Long will be disappointed, they got three points on the road, he’ll be thrilled with that,” he said. “It doesn’t matter if they won 1-0 or 5-0, they still won and yeah from our point of view it’s another morale victory but they are worth nothing and we are in danger of drifting away very early which is the last thing we wanted,” he concluded.
