Finn Harps lost their second consecutive home game and lost ground on the promotion chasing pack, although there is still only a few points separating the teams involved.

Having been on top in spells against UCD, before eventually going down 3-1 and losing a man, Ollie Horgan stated that the competitiveness of the division means that mistakes get punished.

“When UCD did score, I think Daire O’Connors second goal was worthy of winning the game to his credit but the first and third goal were very poor mistakes on our behalf.” he said.

“Of course we will take responsibility for it without doubt. Once again, it’s very similar with the Longford game, some of the senior players are the ones that maybe got us caught for the killer goal.” he added.

UCD now sit 7 points clear of the chasing pack and look far and away the best side in the league and Ollie made note of that.

“To be fair to UCD, they’re a good side, they are top of the table for a reason and you can only give them credit.” he said.

While they struggled to score in the first half, Ollie pointed out that they defended well to remain in the game.

“They defended deep, they defended well and they didn’t make the mistakes that we made to their credit, it has won the game for them.” he added.

Finn Harps dropped out of the top 4 again and Ollie concluded that there is still work to be done.

“Of course there has got to be work to get anywhere near the top half, it’s a proper standard.” he said.

“You’re looking at UCD, while we probably had more possession, we still didn’t take our chances, they did and they have quality players. There is Premier Division players in that squad, if they don’t play with UCD next year, if UCD get up, they will be playin in the premier division without doubt.” he concluded.
